10-20 hours/week, May-October.  Discover Cayuga Lake is part of the not-for-profit Center for Transformative Action, based in Ithaca, NY, and provides interactive lake cruises and educational programs for Finger Lakes residents and visitors. Our programs emphasize the human and natural history of the region in a casual and engaging atmosphere. We are seeking outgoing individuals, ready to work as crew members on a 63-foot tour boat and assist with a range of events, from quiet sunset cruises to STEM education classes for local students.

2018 Internships

We offer high school and college internships throughout the year.  Floating Classroom internships offer great experience working in a team environment, and follow a model adopted by the Earth Force program, which encourages adoption of personal goals.  Focus areas include tourism, education, environmental sciences, social justice & sustainability. Further details available below.

  1. Four introductory crew internships (July-August) will be offered at 15-20 hours/week.  These interns will learn job-skills as junior crew on the MV Teal, and will also assist with lake study and educational programs related to their areas of interest.    Compensation may be arranged via Tompkins County and Ulysses Youth Employment Services.
  2. Advanced internship opportunities, for candidates with prior experience, are available.  They are focused specifically on development and completion of a workplan proposed by the candidate.   For more information, please contact floatingclassroom@gmail.com.

College Summer Internships:  We offer summer, fall and winter internships to assist with tourism programs development and marketing, educational programs and high school intern program management.  Positions may be designed to accommodate a range of academic requirements.  Our summer application period is closed.  Please contact us to discuss fall and winter opportunities.
