Participants will be introduced to Floating Classroom programs aboard the MV Teal, and will explore ways to get the most out of their students’ time on the lake.
Morning sessions will provide firsthand experience with Floating Classroom core activities, and a guest speaker will share opportunities to incorporate current environmental issues and resources into lesson planning.
Afternoon sessions will include facilitated breakout groups to explore ways of applying the core experience on the Floating Classroom to projects tailored to enhance a teacher’s curriculum before, during, and after their field experience. Depending on participant feedback, sessions may include multidisciplinary approaches, using key thinking skills (NGSS) such as defining and asking questions based on real life problems, investigating through collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and on developing, evaluating, and communicating explanations based on these data.
The workshop will run from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Lunch is included. $20 registration fee.
